The late Indian industrialist, Ratan Tata, in his recently opened will bequeathed around one-third of his residual assets—worth around Rs 500 crore—to an individual named Mohini Mohan Dutta, reported ET.

Citing multiple persons familiar with the development, the report stated that Dutta’s association with the Tata patriarch was only known to few.

Dutta, reportedly, is an entrepreneur in the travel and tourism sector from Jamshedpur. The inclusion of Dutta in the will seems to have come as a surprise to the Tata family.

The recipient is said to have owned a travel agency called Stallion, which merged with Taj Group of Hotels's unit Taj Services in 2013. During the time, 80 per cent stake in Stallion belonged to Dutta and his family, while the rest was owned by Tata Industries, said the report.

Dutta also served as a director in the erstwhile affiliate of Thomas Cook, TC Travel Services. The report also cited Dutta to be known as a long-standing associate among Tata's close circles and family members.

Apart from Dutta, other beneficiaries of the will reportedly include Rata Tata's half-sisters, Shireen Jejeebhoy and Deanna Jejeebhoy, who have also been the will's executors following the business tycoon's passing in October 2024.
