Flipkart has launched its UPI service for online and offline payments within the app as well as in other platforms.
Collaborating with Axis Bank, the e-commerce major revealed that the servive will be first made available for Android users. The move is seen as a bid to reduce dependence on third party UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe and its e-commerce rival Amazon's Amazon Pay.
"Recognising the dynamic digital landscape, the launch of Flipkart UPI seamlessly merges the convenience and cost-effectiveness of UPI with the trusted efficiency customers expect from us," said Dheeraj Aneja, Senior Vice President, Fintech and Payments Group at Flipkart.
Flipkart UPI service will be available across its sister companies Myntra, Cleartrip, Flipkart Health+ and Flipkart Wholesale.

Besides top players like PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm and Amazon Pay, UPI services are also provided by WhatsApp, MakeMyTrip, Zomato, Tata Neu, Airtel, PayZapp and several others.
