The Mumbai Police, on Tuesday, revealed that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and a few other banks, including HDFC bank and ICICI bank, received threats saying bombs had been planted in the city offices of these banks.

The police said in a threatening e-mail, the sender demanded the resignation of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

The sender claimed that 11 bombs were planted at 11 locations in Mumbai.

According to Mint, which accessed a screenshot of the threat e-mail from ABP news, the sender said RBI, along with private sector banks, executed the biggest scam in the history of India and added that the scam involves Das, FM Sitharaman, a few other ministers of India and top banking officials.

The mail also gave information about the locations where the bombs were planted.

Seeking resignation of the finance minister and others, the sender demanded that they disclose details of the scam, and urged the government to accord punishment to those involved in the scam.

"Police went to all these places and investigated but did not find anything. A case has been registered and the probe is underway," ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying.
