Deadline to update Aadhaar extended till March 14: How to avail free service online?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline to update your Aadhaar for free by three more months from December 14, 2023, to March 14, 2024.

UIDAI said in a memorandum, "Based on the positive response from the residents, it is decided to extend the facility for 3 more months i.e. from 15.12.2023 to 14.03.2024. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue to be free of cost through myAadhaar portal."

However, the service is free only on the myAadhaar portal. You have to pay a fee of Rs 50 at Aadhaar centres.

How to avail free service online?

  • https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ using your Aadhaar number
  • Enter the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile phone number
  • Go to 'document update'
  • Verify your details and upload identity proof. Upload address proof if you are updating your address.
  • A new window will show your Service Request Number (SRN). Keep it for future reference.

To avail the online service after the new March 14, 2024, you will have to pay Rs 25.
