Jumping on the bandwagon of IT companies asking their employees to end working from home and return to the office, software services major Wipro has made it mandatory to work from the office thrice a week.
According to media reports, India's fourth largest software services firm asked its employees to work from the office three days a week from November 15.
"Recognizing the immense benefits of in-person collaboration and innovation, we are now taking the next step in our workplace policy evolution and requiring all employees to work from the office three days a week, effective 15 November 2023," Wipro said on Monday, reported Mint.
The company stated that it believes that "in-person interactions are critical to the professional development of our talent as well as to our success in driving ongoing innovation for clients."
Wipro said nearly 55 per cent of the employees are already working from the office three times a week.
The company warned that people who fail to follow this hybrid work model may face action starting January 7, 2024. "We firmly believe that accountability is essential for the success and growth of our organisation", Wipro said in a mail to the employees.
A few days ago, another IT major, Infosys asked some of its employees to work from the office 10 days a month. Certain entry and mid-level employees of Infosys have been asked to abide by this policy from November 20.
