Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to help in the creation of different types of new job roles. It will boost productivity and will reduce the time taken for completion of a task, observed Gaurav Sharma, vice president of IBM India Software Labs during an AI Innovation Day event in Bengaluru, hosted by the company.

He pointed out that AI will help people in developing new skill sets required for the jobs that it will help create.

Sharma said the consumer-oriented part of AI needs to be regulated as it involves public and personal data. Lighter regulations will also be required in enterprise AI which involves data that is in control of the enterprises, he added.

“True innovation is born from collaboration. By co-creating and co-innovating with our clients and partners, we unlock new possibilities to drive transformative change whether it is helping companies create value for their customers by improving their user experience or helping employees boost their productivity and creativity. Businesses are transitioning from +AI to AI first and we are ready to help our clients transform their businesses with the power of AI. With our decades of experience in AI product development, product engineering, a highly skilled digital talent, together with the expertise of our partners, IBM is helping clients apply AI to become more productive and innovative,” said Sharma.

He said businesses need access to a full technology stack that enables them to train, tune and deploy AI, including foundation models, across their organisation with their own trusted data, at speed, and with a governance framework all in one place and across any cloud environment. In order to ease current enterprise AI burdens and enable them to deploy enterprise-ready and trustworthy AI more easily and at a bigger scale, IBM launched Watsonx which will help enterprises to leverage the full potential of AI throughout their operations, utilizing data from any source and unlock new levels of productivity, performance, and speed, driving substantial business value for clients.

At the AI Innovation Day, IBM showcased its latest offering for enterprises 'Watsonx' which is a new AI and data platform, that has foundation models that help in providing accurate, scalable, and adaptable AI for businesses. IBM India Software Labs in India has been a major contributor to this platform.

During the event, IBM showcased different components of Watsonx such as watsonx.ai a next-generation enterprise studio that offers capabilities to train, validate, tune, and deploy machine learning and new generative AI models powered by foundation models through an open and intuitive user interface. These models have been designed to integrate with multi-cloud architectures, with a focus on data acquisition, provenance, and quality, catering to the unique needs of enterprises.

Then there is the watsonx.data that is designed to help enterprises to scale AI workloads by harnessing their entire data landscape. This purpose-built data store optimizes governance and supports AI workloads, offering querying, governance, and open data formats for easy access and data sharing. Besides this, there is watsonx.governance, a toolkit that empowers customers to build responsible, transparent and explainable data and AI workflows.
