Amid rumours that UK’s Vodafone Plc is planning to lay off several hundred of its employees, Vodafone Idea has been witnessing the exit of a large number of its employees in the recent past.

According to a Financial Express report, in recent weeks, 20 per cent of its sales team has resigned.

In the wake of the resignations, the company is now looking for replacements and has posted several ads on its LinkedIn page. The company is hiring to posts such as AGM - prepaid Marketing Specialist and AGM - Prepaid Marketing among others.

Vodafone Idea, however, chose to play down reports of resignation, saying the attrition is in line with market and industry trends and is even lower when compared to some competitors.

“Over the last one year period, we have acquired top talent from competition and diverse sources, to strengthen our workforce and prepare for our next journey of growth in the digital era," a Vodafone Idea spokesperson has been quoted as saying.

According to media reports, during the last four financial years, there has been over 35 per cent reduction in the permanent employees of the company.

The company has been losing subscribers at an alarming rate. According to Financial Express, it lost nearly 38.1 million subscribers in the 19 months till October.
