Hyundai Venue for India unveiled; launch date, price details

South Korean auto major Hyundai will launch its new compact SUV, Venue, on May 21 in India. A few Hyundai dealers have reportedly begun accepting bookings for the Hyundai Venue, unofficially. The new offering from Hyundai will sit below the Creta in the brand’s India line-up.

The Hyundai Venue will take on the rivals like the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Mahindra XUV300. The launch of Hyundai Venue is expected to toughen the competition in the compact SUV segment as it comes feature loaded, especially Hyundai’s new feature the Blue Link connectivity suite.

The Blue Link technology suite comes with 33 features of which 10 are exclusive to India. Hyundai broadly classifies the features under safety, security, remote, alert services, location-based services, vehicle relationship management and artificial intelligence. AI-based features include voice commands and remote functions for the engine, AC, doors and more.

The Hyundai Venue will come standard with dual front airbags, ABS, seat-belt reminders and rear parking sensors. The top-spec trims of the car are expected to include a sunroof, a climate control system and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible.

Hyundai Venue will have three engine options. The cheapest is likely to be the 1.2-litre petrol with 83hp and 115Nm of torque, and the more expensive and high-tech petrol will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, direct-injection turbo that puts out 120hp and 172Nm of torque. The Venue will also come with the 1.4 diesel that puts out 90hp and 220Nm of torque, which is expected to be the most preferred one in Indian market.

The Venue will also come with a choice of three different gearboxes—the 1.0 turbo-petrol will be offered with a 6-speed manual as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch auto, and the 1.2 petrol will get a 5-speed manual and the 1.4 diesel will get a 6-speed manual.

The Hyundai Venue will be officially launched on May 21. The Venue is expected to be priced in a range of Rs 8-12 lakh (ex-showroom).
