President Trump announces fake news awards

US-POLITICS-TRUMP-MLK US President Donald Trump

If you have been following President Trump's constant tussle with the media, you would be familiar with how the President has been calling certain media houses to be 'fake', as they have been peddling 'mistruths' about him. Trump who was supposed to annouce winners of fake news in the first week of January, made the announcement on the night of January 17. He took to Twitter to announce the winners.

The top winner was New York Times with its editorial on the economy would never recover by Paul Krugman. It was published the day Trump won the presidential election.

Following it was ABC News' Brian Ross who send the markets in a downward spiral with false report. Then there was a CNN report that Trump and his son Trump Jr had access to leaked documents from WikiLeaks. The other winners included Time and Washington Post who reported falsely that the President removed the bust of Martin Luther King from the Oval office and that Trump's sold-out rally at Pensacola was empty, respectively.

CNN got three more mentions and Newsweek got a mention as it falsely reported that Polish First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda did not shake the President's hand. New York Times and Washington Post got mentioned again too.

Later, the President had some kind words to say about the media, “Despite some very corrupt and dishonest media coverage, there are many great reporters I respect and lots of GOOD NEWS for the American people to be proud of!” he tweeted.
