THE WEEK wins three awards at WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards

Malayala Manorama Chief Reporter Mahesh Guptan, Senior Photographer Sameer M. Hameed, The Week Deputy Photo Editor Salil Behra, Assistant Art Editor Binesh Sreedharan, Deputy Photo Editor Bhanu Prakash Chandra received the WAN-IFRA Asian media award held at Kuala Lumpur, along with WAN-IFRA World Editor's forum President Marcela Resh and WAN-IFRA World Asia-Pacific Chairman Patrick Daniel.

Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia): THE WEEK and the Malayala Manorama bagged a total of five WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards. The award function, which was hosted as part of the Publish Asia conference, was inaugurated by Malaysian Prime Minister Najeeb Razak in Kaula Lumpur.

The project Ardrakeralam, an initiative of Malayala Manorama for the welfare of mentally-challenged children, won the silver award under the social service category. The award was received by Manorama Chief Reporter Mahesh Guptan. The silver award in sports photography category went to Manorama Senior Photographer Sameer M. Hameed for his photo “Mud soak wonder”.

In the news photography category, THE WEEK's Deputy Photo Editor Bhanu Prakash Chandra won gold for his photograph “Bull by the horns” and Deputy Photo Editor Salil Bera won bronze for “Nepal's illegal kidney racket”. The silver award for best magazine cover went to THE WEEK's Assistant Art Editor Binesh Sreedharan for his cover on “Modi's outdated Army”.
