The Supreme Court is set to have a busy day ahead on Monday as three high profile cases are expected to come up for hearing during the day. These are: Article 35A, the Kerala love jihad case and Aadhaar case.

The apex court is all set to hear a batch of petitions challenging Article 35A of the Constitution. Four petitions are before the court, challenging the Constitutional validity of the article. 35A of the Constitution empowers the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.

Another case that will come up for hearing is the Kerala 'love jihad' case. Last month, a group of people had submitted a petition to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and demanded a probe into the alleged unlawful incarceration of Hadiya, the 24-year-old Vaikom native, who had converted to Islam after marriage.

Four months ago, the Kerala High Court had sent Hadiya with her parents K.M. Asokan and Ponnamma after annulling her marriage with Shafin Jahan.

The case is under consideration of the apex court now, which had ordered the NIA investigation into it.

The third controversial case that the SC will take up is the Aadhaar case. The West Bengal government had approached the apex court, challenging rules that make Aadhaar mandatory for availing various government schemes.
