Fugitive mafia don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar's three prime properties in south Mumbai finally found a buyer on Tuesday—the Saifee Burhani Uphliftment Trust (SBUT), run by the Dawoodi Bohra community, an official said here.

"Yes. We submitted bids and have won the auction for the three properties which fall within the redevelopment jurisdiction of the SBUT. We shall now complete the remaining formalities,"said a SBUT spokesperson.

The properties to be acquired by the Trust include a restaurant, Hotel Raunaq Afroz, also known as Delhi Zaika, Shabnam Guest House and six tenements in Damarwala Building, all falling within one kilometre radius in the congested Bhendi Bazar area. Hotel Raunaq Afroz located on Pakmodia Street. Dawood Ibrahim's childhood residence at Damarwala building is also situated on the Pakmodia Street.

According to reports, the properties were auctioned for Rs 11.58 crores . The auction was held on Tuesday in Mumbai at the Indian Merchants Chamber. Security had been beefed up at the venue since morning.

The properties situated in South Mumbai were put on auction under Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Properties) Act by the finance ministry. SBUT emerged as the highest bidder during the auction.

In a statement issued, SBUT said that the three properties (Shabnam Guest House, Damarwala building & Hotel Raunaq Afroz) fall under their ongoing Bhendi Bazaar redevelopment project. These buildings are in dilapidated condition and unfit for living. Therefore to ensure the safety of the families living in these buildings and to carry on with the redevelopment project, we participated in the bidding and acquired these properties.
