If not for Constitution, Ramdev would have beheaded those unwilling to chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, who has a penchant for stocking controversy, has come out with another outlandish statement—this time targetting those unwilling to chant "Bharat Mata ki Jai."

According to media reports, the yoga guru said had it not been for the law of the land, he would have "beheaded" those who refuse to chant "Bharat Mata ki Jai."

"We respect this country's law and Constitution, otherwise if anybody disrespects Bharat Mata, we have the capability of beheading not one but thousands and lakhs," he was quoted as saying.

On Sunday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said those who are unwilling to say "Bharat Mata ki Jai" do not have any right to stay in the country.

Recently, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi had said even if someone puts a knife to his throat, he would not chant "Bharat Mata ki Jai" even as Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband had issued a fatwa against those chanting the slogan as this "goes against the tenets of Islam."
