An Indian law student has been stabbed to death in Canada’s Niagara region. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Vidhi Kalpeshbhai Meghani (Vidhi Megha), who hailed from Gujarat’s Anand district.

The attack took place on May 15 after she left her residence in the Niagara area. Although she was rushed to a hospital following the attack, she was reportedly declared dead on arrival by the medical team.

Sadly, Vidhi’s family in Gujarat's Borsad remained in the dark for several days before the truth finally reached them. When she was unreachable by phone or WhatsApp from May 16, they were under the impression that she was occupied with work and studies. According to reports, they were informed about her death only after officials and police contacted them with details received through diplomatic channels.

One suspect has been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and is currently being questioned. There is no official news yet on the motive behind the crime.

Vidhi Megha reportedly arrived in Canada four years ago and was preparing to apply for permanent residency (PR). She was engaged in a part-time job to support her studies, reports confirmed.

More details are awaited.
