Days ahead of the Assembly elections in the state, the Income Tax Department on Thursday conducted raids at multiple places including the house of famous singer Rimi Tomy in Kochi over alleged irregularities in foreign financial transactions.
According to reports, the raids were also held at the houses of businessman Madathil Reghu in Kollam and Supreme Court lawyer Vinod Kuttappan in Thiruvananthapuram.
There were complaints against the singer that the money she received for her foreign stage shows was brought to India without submitting valid documents and handed over to a few candidates to spend for the election work.
Kerala will go to poll on May 16 and the results will be announced on May 18.
