India's annual retail inflation fell to 5.18 per cent in February from 5.69 percent for the month before, thanks to a significant drop in food prices, official data showed on Monday.
As per figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the annual food inflation, based on the consumer price index (CPI), stood at 5.30 per cent for February, as against 6.85 per cent in the month before.
In the like month of the previous fiscal, the overall annual inflation was 5.37 per cent, while the 12-month food inflation was 6.88 per cent.
