New Delhi, Nov 6 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday attended the two-day 'Delhi Ki Diwali - Sabse Nirali, Milkar Manane Wali' celebrations at Connaught Place, where a mega drone show depicting Lord Ram, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha mesmerised visitors.

Organised by the Delhi government's Tourism Department at Central Park, the event was inaugurated on Dhanteras as part of the 'Jagmag Diwali' celebrations.

Gupta extended Diwali greetings to the people of Delhi and expressed hope that the festival brings happiness, prosperity and peace to every household.

She said the event reflected the spirit of 'Clean Diwali, Green Diwali', adding that the drone show, featuring thousands of drones displaying religious figures and a vision of Viksit Bharat, was a memorable experience.

"With the blessings of Lord Shri Ram, we will take Delhi to new heights of development," she said.

The chief minister said people wanted to move beyond negative issues and focus on development, addressing problems and fulfilling their aspirations.

Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, Delhi ministers Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra and Ravinder Indraj, and MLAs Abhay Verma and Anil Kumar Sharma were among those present.

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said the Delhi government was organising 'Delhi Ki Diwali' on a grand scale for the second consecutive year.

He said the main objective of the event was to transform the recent negative atmosphere in Connaught Place into one of positivity and celebration.

Connaught Place is the heart of Delhi, and the two-day festival aims to provide people an opportunity to celebrate Diwali with their families while connecting with the city's cultural identity, Mishra said.

The evening also featured a Maha Aarti dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, followed by a performance of 'Bhajan Clubbing' by the Keshavam group, which blended devotional music with contemporary musical arrangements.

The celebrations will continue on Saturday with another mega drone show, cultural performances and bhajan clubbing at Central Park.
