New Delhi, Oct 31 (PTI) To commemorate the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Ministry of Ayush is promoting a 'Yoga for Unity' message to highlight the role of yoga in fostering social harmony, national integration and collective well-being.

The initiative, integrated with the ministry's 'Yoga 365' campaign, aims to encourage people to make yoga a part of their daily routine and strengthen the spirit of togetherness and shared responsibility towards health.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav said yoga brings people together beyond differences of age, region and background while promoting physical and mental well-being.

"Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel united the nation through his vision and determination. On National Unity Day, we must carry forward his message of unity through collective action," he was quoted as saying in a statement.

Patel's birth anniversary is celebrated as National Unity Day.

Through 'Yoga for Unity' and 'Yoga 365', the government encourages every citizen to embrace yoga as a daily practice and contribute towards building a healthier and more united India, Jadhav added.

Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha said yoga offers a simple and accessible means of improving physical and mental well-being while fostering a sense of connection among individuals and communities.

As part of the Yoga 365 campaign, yoga and naturopathy institutions under the ministry are being encouraged to organise activities, including community-based programmes and awareness initiatives, to encourage wider practice and public participation.

The campaign emphasises that yoga should not be limited to a particular day or occasion but adopted as a sustainable daily practice that promotes individual health and strengthens community bonds.

Through the initiative, the ministry seeks to link the spirit of national unity envisioned by Patel with preventive healthcare, healthy living and collective well-being, the statement added.
