Lucknow, Nov 4 (PTI) Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier flyadeal has expanded its operations from Lucknow with the launch of direct flights to Jeddah on Wednesday and the introduction of services to Medina this week, airport officials said.

The new services from the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport will provide direct connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and three major Saudi Arabian cities, Jeddah, Medina and Dammam, they added.

"Jeddah-Lucknow-Jeddah service commences today," a senior official said, adding that direct flights between Lucknow and Medina would be introduced later this week.

The Jeddah service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays, while flights to and from Medina will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays. The existing Dammam service operates on Tuesdays and Fridays, according to the initial schedule.

The official said the expansion would offer additional travel options to business and leisure travellers, Indian expatriates in Saudi Arabia and pilgrims undertaking religious journeys.

"The direct connectivity is also expected to encourage tourism, trade and cultural exchange between India and Saudi Arabia," the official added.

The airport currently connects Uttar Pradesh to nine international destinations across the Middle East -- Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Dammam, Sharjah, Jeddah, Ras Al Khaimah, Riyadh and Medina -- through six international airlines.

The airport is also set to welcome Thai AirAsia's direct Lucknow-Bangkok service this month. With its introduction, the airport's international network will expand to 10 destinations, officials said.

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, Lucknow, is managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited.
