Face craze

ANYONE WHO talks of the importance of ‘inner beauty’ in a woman today is either a dreamer or a poser. Instagram, with its face editing features like FaceTune, has made the term redundant. The social media platform is not just popularising beauty but it is also homogenising it. Women do not just want to look beautiful, they want to look beautiful in the exact same way.

Hence the prevalence of ‘Instagram Face’, characterised by thick eyebrows, full cheeks, false eyelashes and a large pout, a la Kim Kardashian West, Bella Hadid, Kendall and Kylie Jenner (in pic). But here’s the catch: Perhaps you can use face editing apps to get a virtual Instagram Face, but what happens when you step out into the real world?

No need to pout. Enter non-surgical fillers to plump up your lips and straighten your nose and voila... in a matter of minutes, you turn into Kylie Jenner. In fact, the Kylie Jenner package, costing around 350, is becoming increasingly popular in the west. And if you think we Indians are immune to the look, think again. Considering how fast Kylie is colonising the country with her makeup products, we are probably only a few lip kits away from getting Jenner-ised!
