Thomas Markle Sr, the estranged father of the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is under investigation after his son reported finding child pornographic content at his residence in the Philippines.

According to The Sun, Meghan’s 82-year-old father is alleged to have stashed a bunch of explicit pictures of children at his home in Cebu, Philippines. His 60-year-old son, Thomas Markle Jr, said he reported the hoarding to the FBI hotline, the US National Centre for Exploited and Missing Children, and the state police in Pennsylvania, where his father was living.

Markle Sr had to return to the US in May after he suffered a stroke and a blood clot, because of which his left leg was amputated, forcing him to leave his house in Cebu. However, he allegedly left behind an enormous stash of child pornographic pictures packed into storage boxes.

Markle Jr stumbled into the issue while he was allegedly searching for a phone for his Filipino girlfriend’s father at Markle Sr’s residence. He told the police he discovered “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sex abuse images in four large boxes at his father’s home. He also alleged discovering videos on an old LG mobile phone.

The Sun reported that Markle Jr found a 15-minute video of victims, aged no older than ten or eleven, appearing in sexual acts. He also reportedly found three still pictures of unclothed minor girls. Markle Jr alleged that one of the images was the picture of a screen of a laptop from his father’s former home in Rosarito, Mexico.

After not receiving any follow-up inquiries, Markle Jr continued to check the remaining content, allegedly finding multiple books with child pornography and three hard drives with explicit content. Preschool kids, including toddlers, captured in nude or sexual acts, were among the files that were found.  A book named “Lewis Carroll Photographs Of Children: Four Nude Studies” with pictures of a man engaged in sexual acts with a very young Asian girl was reportedly discovered.

Markle Jr added that he had supported and cared for his father for years but claimed that he would no longer contact him unless he is required to testify against him. Markle Sr was previously in a relationship with a much younger nurse, 46-year-old Rio Canedo, whom he met in the Philippines while recovering from leg amputation surgery.

However, 61-year-old Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, told the NY post that their brother Markle Jr is fabricating the incident for monetary gain and that her father was in a rehabilitation facility without access to those computers. She claimed Markle Jr created the story because her father stopped offering financial assistance.

The investigation has brought back attention to the long-standing dispute between Meghan Markle and her father. Their relationship gradually deteriorated during Meghan’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Markle Sr did not attend the wedding and has not seen his son-in-law.

A source close to Meghan Markle told The Sun, “Now maybe people will finally understand why she has had nothing to do with her father since 2018.”

Markle Sr was a former Hollywood lighting director and has spoken about his daughter. He even wished to reconcile with her, but Meghan and Harry have remained estranged.
