Influencer brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who were popular in the “manosphere” circles, were arrested in Miami on Saturday after fresh charges of rape and sex trafficking were filed in the UK, US and British officials said.
The additional charges against Andrew, 39 and Tristan, 38, were brought on by the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service. The agency said that it is awaiting the the brother’s extradition to the UK.
Andrew Tate is facing seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 19 additional charges relating to illegal child images and pornography. Tristan Tate faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation
The charges cover alleged offences from July 2010 to August 2017, MBC news reported.
The brothers hold dual US and British citizenship.
The news charges relate to four additional alleged victims. Previous charges were connected to three alleged victims.
The Tates have long denied all criminal allegations against them.
The brother’s lawyer said that the pair 'would walk' free before travelling across the Atlantic, the BBC reported. "We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free," he said
“This is not law enforcement, this is a political hit... America does not do Britain’s political dirty work,” he added.
The Tates were both former kickboxers and have been long associated with the manosphere, a social media phenomenon that is anti feminist and which has been accused of promoting toxic masculinity and misogyny.
In 2022, they were arrested along with two Romanian women in Bucharest and subsequently indicted.
Last year, a Romanian travel ban on the two was lifted, which allowed them to move to the US. The previous allegation included the coercion of a 17-year-old girl into pornography and the rape of a minor.
They returned in 2025 and have remained under criminal investigation in Romania on allegations of organised crime, human trafficking, trafficking of minors and money laundering.
The Crown Prosecution Service said that the decision to file new charges came after it received new evidence from police in Bedfordshire and neighbouring Hertfordshire County.
