A 25-year-old woman software engineer in Hyderabad allegedly ended her life by jumping into a pond. However, what has puzzled investigators is the strange chain of events that preceded her death.

Police said the techie, identified as Tejashwini, entered a temple without clothes, allegedly walked away with the goddess idol, and later jumped into a pond. While her body was recovered, the missing idol has added another mystery to the case.

Police said the woman had been experiencing mental health issues. Her parents were reportedly living separately due to marital disputes, with her father residing in Visakhapatnam. Tejashwini and her mother had been staying in Peerzadiguda, Hyderabad.

According to preliminary investigation, she and her mother went to Miyapur in the city to see a double bedroom apartment for purchasing it. They returned home and went to sleep in separate rooms. Police said that later, the woman locked her mother’s bedroom, left the house without clothes, went to a temple, and subsequently jumped into a pond.

Police are now attempting to recover the Goddess Ammavaru idol, which they believe could provide crucial clues about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Disaster Response Force (DRF) has deployed boats and personnel to assist in the search for the missing idol.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the techie died by suicide; however, police have launched a detailed probe into the events leading up to her death. They are analysing CCTV footage, witness accounts, and forensic evidence to establish the sequence of events.

According to reports, police are also examining her financial records after finding that she had been staying in a flat with a reported rent of ₹3,500 per day, amounting to nearly ₹1 lakh per month.
