Hariom was allegedly shot dead by his son, Nikhil Nehra, at their residence on July 15. The police have reported that the 32-year-old man fired three bullets at his father and fled the crime scene.

According to the police, the incident took place around 1 AM on Wednesday. Nikhil had come home to find Hariom resting on his bed after dinner. Reports indicate that the shooting was in response to the 55-year-old father’s confrontation about the son’s drinking habits.

He allegedly attempted to eliminate 26-year-old Nishu, believing that he would inherit the family’s entire property.

Nehra is survived by his wife, Meenakshi Mehra. After Nikhil fled the scene, the family reportedly first took the father to a private hospital, where he was declared dead. Following this, Meenakshi filed a complaint against both brothers, who are now the primary suspects in the case. She mentioned that a land dispute has been ongoing between the brothers.

"On hearing the gunshots, I rushed there and saw my son Nikhil. He fired three bullets at my husband in front of me, hitting him in the head and stomach, following which he fell to the ground. Nikhil then fled the scene”, she told TOI.

According to her, Hariom had divided the land into three parts, one for Nikhil, one for Nishu and the rest for Hariom and his wife.
