After an unidentified gunmen stormed a Thailand school and opened fire on Wednesday evening, police revealed that all students and teachers kept hostage were freed.

The incident occurred in the evening when students were leaving from Patong Prathan Khiriwat School in Hat Yai district of Songkhla province, Thailand, bordering Malaysia.

Deputy Superintendent Wichian Soboon revealed that the gunman was detained. Official reports have not confirmed any deaths, but multiple injuries are suspected.

Videos showed hundreds of youngsters fleeing from the school as armed police arrived at the scene.

Special forces cordoned off the school to bring the situation under control. Rescue teams evacuated people gathered on the campus. The public was urged to avoid the routes leading to the school and nearby areas for safety, reported The Nation Thailand.
