A former Madrasa teacher has been identified as the main accused in the lynching of Hindu man Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh.
Yasin Arafat allegedly led the mob that attacked Dipu. He was arrested on Wednesday in Sarulia, which comes under Demra police station.
Who is Yasin Arafat?
Yasin Arafat, 25, was identified as the son of one Gazi Mia and a resident of South Hobirbari, Valuka. He was an imam at the Shekahbari mosque and a teacher at a madrasa for more than a year.
Arafat played a prominent role in dragging the victim's body to the Square Masterbari in Mymensingh district and set it ablaze.
He had gone into hiding for around two weeks, staying in madrasas across Dhaka. He is also said to have assumed a false identity to become a teacher at another madrasa after the lynching.
