LaGuardia Airport Delta planes collide: Pictures as Endeavor jet's wing crashes into another's nose, damages windscreen

New York City's LaGuardia Airport witnessed two Delta Air Lines regional jets colliding at low speeds while taxiing on Wednesday, US media reports said. Although a total of 93 people were involved in the incident, only one person, a cabin crew member, was injured, they added.

The two jets involved in the incident were identified as Endeavor flight 5155 and Endeavor flight 5047. According to ABC News, Endeavor flight 5155 was taxiing for departure when it came into contact with the other aircraft that was taxiing to its gate after landing when the collision took place around 9:56 p.m. local time. Endeavor flight 5155's wing made contact with the fuselage of Flight 5047, a preliminary information by the airline reportedly found out. Flight 5155 was scheduled to depart for Roanoke, Virginia while the other was arriving from Charlotte, North Carolina.

It was the right wing that came in contact with the other aircraft, reportedly impacting the nose and the cockpit. The windscreen of Endeavor flight 5047 was also damaged in the impact. According to Delta, it was a flight attendant who suffered an injury while all passengers were said to be unhurt during the time of compiling this report. Endeavor Flight 5155 was carrying 32 people, 28 passengers and four crew members, while Flight 5047 was carrying 61 people, 57 passengers and 4 crew members, the airlines reportedly confirmed.

No other aircraft was suspended or delayed at the LaGuardia International Airport as a consequence of the accident, ABC News confirmed.

"Delta teams at our New York-LaGuardia hub are working to ensure our customers are taken care of after two Delta Connection aircraft operated by Endeavor Air were involved in a low-speed collision during taxi. Delta will work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred as safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologize to our customers for the experience," Delta said in a statement.
