In the wake of the brutal murder of an Indian man by a Cuban immigrant with prior criminal record in Dallas, US President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on the immigration policy brought in by his predecessor, Joe Biden.
Trump said the administration will no longer be soft on the illegal immigrant criminals and vowed to prosecute the accused to “the fullest extent of the law”.
Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, 50, an Indian-origin motel manager, was attacked with a machete on September 10 at the Downtown Suites Motel, where he lived and worked. The accused, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, has been charged with capital murder.
“I am aware of the terrible reports regarding the murder of Chandra Nagamallaiah, a well respected person in Dallas, Texas, who was brutally beheaded, in front of his wife and son, by an ILLEGAL ALIEN from Cuba who should have never been in our Country,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The President noted that the accused person was previously arrested for “terrible” crimes, including child sexual abuse ad grand theft, “but was released back into our Homeland under incompetent Joe Biden because Cuba did not want such an evil person in their country”.
“Rest assured, the time for being soft on these Illegal Immigrant Criminals is OVER under my watch!,” said Trump. “This criminal, who we have in custody, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law. He will be charged with murder in the first degree!”
Chandra Mouli was attacked in front of his wife and 18-year-old son. His funeral took place on September 13 in Flower Mound, Texas, attended by close family and friends.
The incident has sent shock waves among the Indian-American community.
