US Navy’s F-35 fighter jet crashes in California; pilot safely ejects

An F-35 fighter jet crashed near a naval station in central California, United States, Wednesday evening, US Navy officials said.

According to naval authorities, the F-35C fighter jet attached to a striking force squadron of the US Navy crashed within the premises of Naval Air Station in Lemore. First responders have rushed to the scene and rescue efforts are underway. According to US Navy officials, the pilot ejected safely, and the cause of the crash is yet to be 

"NAS Lemoore can confirm an aviation incident on the operations side of the installation. At 18.30 (local time), an F-35C attached to the VFA-125 Rough Raiders went down not far from NAS Lemoore. We can confirm the pilot successfully ejected and is safe. There are no additional affected personnel," it said in a statement published on social media. US Navy has launched a probe to find out the cause of the crash.
