Ever since she was imprisoned for slapping an Israel soldier in 2017, Palestinian activist Ahed Tamimi has been considered a symbol of Palestinian resistance. On Monday, the 22-year-old was arrested during a raid in the West Bank over alleged terrorist activity and incitement on Monday.

As a 14-year-old, she was photographed biting an IDF soldier in 2015. In 2017, she made headlines once again after slapping an Israeli solidier and was sentenced to eight months in prison and fined 5,000 shekels (over Rs 1 lakh).

Israeli media reports on Tuesday claimed that Tamimi, in a post that is no longer available online, allegedly wrote that Jewish settlers in West Bank will be killed.

"Our message to the herds of settlers is that we're waiting for you in all cities in [the West Bank], from Hebron to Jenin. We'll slaughter you, and you'll say that what Hitler did to you was a joke. We'll drink your blood and eat your skulls. Let's go, we're waiting for you," read the post, as per Haaretz.

"Israeli forces just arrested Ahed Tamimi in the village of Nabi Saleh in the occupied West Bank," award-winning Al Jazeera journalist Dena Takruri, who co-authored Tamimi's memoir, 'They Called Me a Lioness: A Palestinian Girl’s Fight for Freedom', posted on X following her arrest, "Over a week ago they arrested her father, Bassem Tamimi while he was trying to make his way to Jordan. The family still has no idea where he’s being held."

In another post, Takruri wrote, "Israeli soldiers raided Ahed Tamimi’s home, turned everything upside down and held her mother in another room, preventing her from being with her daughter." She also posted a video of Israeli forces arresting Tamimi from her home in Nabi Saleh.

Her mother, Nariman Tamimi, told Reuters that several Israeli soldiers entered their house overnight and arrested her daughter.

Israel has reportedly arrested hundreds from West Bank amid war between Tel Aviv and Hamas militant in the Gaza Strip. According to Israel, the West Bank arrests are being carried out to foil attacks.
