Various Pakistani media outlets, including Geo.tv, reported on Thursday that India was planning to produce "doctored videos" of a skirmish along the border. The report cited no evidence or corroboration except anonymous "informed diplomatic sources". The skirmish, according to media reports, will be staged inside Jammu and Kashmir, replete with Pakistani flags and paraphernalia.

Earlier, while speaking in a joint session of Pakistan’s Parliament, Imran Khan had compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hitler, saying that India’s policy in Kashmir was one of ethnic cleansing. Khan said that “attacks like Pulwama will happen again” with India’s approach, warning that “They will attempt to place the blame on us again.”

He carried on, asking, “If a war happens, if we fight to the last drop of blood, what kind of war will that be?", adding that a war between two nuclear-armed nations would have global consequences, but that he was not threatening nuclear blackmail.

Earlier, the Modi government had moved a resolution to scrap Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian Union, and bifurcated the state.

The Modi government ordered the deployment of 35,000 additional paramilitary personnel in the past two weeks and, last weekend, asked Amarnath Yatris and tourists to leave Kashmir. On Sunday, deployment of Central security forces began across Kashmir, with the government also ordering suspension of internet and landline phone services.

The government also placed under house-arrest key political leaders in the state, including PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah and even Sajjad Lone, who was perceived to be close to the BJP. Both Abdullah and Mufti have been chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, with Mufti holding the post in a coalition government with the BJP.
