US-Iran relations are under much strain, with Donald Trump slapping new sanctions on Iranian industrial metals and threatening further action unless Tehran "fundamentally" changes its behavior. In addition to this, US had said it is sending the planes to counter Tehran. However, no details are available.

B-52 bombers ordered by the White House to deploy to the Persian Gulf to counter unspecified threats from Iran have arrived at Qatar, a major American air base. The move has been termed deliberately provocative by Jarrett Blanc from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

As per Images released by the US Air Force's Central Command, B-52H Stratofortress bombers arrived at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Thursday night.

The Trump administration has not offered specific details of the threat Iran allegedly presents.

Iran had announced that it would begin backing away from its nuclear deal with world powers, a year after Trump pulled America from the accord. However, EU and its member nations have not offered any new plans.

The sanctions will affect Iran's export revenue and put financial pressure on its middle class according to analysts.
