In exciting news for cricket lovers, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed all 10 Indian Premier League franchises that the player auction will be held on December 16, 2026, in Goa. 

As per a Cricbuzz report,  a WhatsApp message forwarded by the BCCI logistics team specified the auction dates for December. “The IPL 2026 Player Auction will take place on December 16, 2026, at ITC Grand Goa and an auction briefing will be held on December 15, 2026,” the BCCI WhatsApp note mentioned. 

However, there has been no formal confirmation from the BCCI regarding the IPL 2027 auction dates. The report also specifies that multiple franchisees received the same note on the auction dates. The message was intended to facilitate logistics and travel bookings to Goa.

The proposed auction dates for IPL 2027 also clash with India vs Sri Lanka, scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on the same day. There has been no intimation about a date change regarding the match either. 

Interestingly, this year the auction returns to Indian shores after three seasons overseas. The past three editions of the auction were held in Dubai, Jeddah (mega auction) and Abu Dhabi.
