Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund are interested in Manchester United's Jadon Sancho as the Red Devils are hell-bent on avoiding the Englishman leaving as a free agent, a new report said. The only reason for the former Premier League champions to trigger the one-year extension option in his contract will be to ensure they receive a proper transfer sum upon his exit, it added.

The 25-year-old Sancho is currently on loan at Villa Park but is far from his best. Interestingly, following his infamous falling out with former manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho had a loan spell with Dortmund—his former club before landing at Old Trafford. United are not interested in offering him a new contract and aim to make the most of his sale, although it is unlikely they will get anywhere near the £73 million they shelled out for the winger in 2021.
Although Sancho showed a glimmer of his best while at Chelsea on yet another loan deal, his best stint was during his return to Signal Iduna Park in 2024, when he went on to win a UEFA Champions League runner-up medal. At Villa Park, he has managed only a goal and an assist across all competitions, but Unai Emery is still open to giving him opportunities and even making his move permanent. The Spanish gaffer believes his presence has made a solid impact, despite failing to score in over 15 appearances so far, TEAMtalk said in a report.
Sancho is happy at Aston Villa, but Dortmund are ahead in the race to seal a permanent deal. However, it is too early to call as neither club has started talks officially. "When you have a manager that backs you, you go into training with a lot more confidence, and obviously matchdays... So, I'm just happy that I'm playing, and hopefully I can help the team throughout the season," the Manchester Evening News quoted Sancho as telling Villa's official website.
However, it was not immediately mentioned what sum United were planning to raise from his sale or how much the two European sides are willing to pay for him. Meanwhile, Napoli, AC Milan, and Atalanta are also tracking how the transfer race for the winger is progressing, TEAMtalk said. If Christian Pulisic leaves AC Milan, Sancho could be considered as a replacement by the Serie A giants.
