On Thursday (December 11), the International Cricket Council (ICC) officially declared the ticket sales (Phase 1), for the T20 World Cup 2026, open. From 6:45 local time in India/Sri Lanka, the ticket sales have begun online with the starting price of tickets being kept at Rs 100/LRK 1000 for select venues across the two countries.
While dynamic pricing is expected for most venues during this phase and Phase 2, the ultimate aim for the ICC is to ensure affordability and accessibility for the fans. Tickets are available at www.tickets.cricketworldcup.com and can be purchased through all the acclaimed payent modes.
"Phase I of ticket sales is an important milestone in our journey towards delivering the most accessible and global ICC event ever staged," said ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta during the press release.
"Our vision for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is clear: every fan, regardless of background, geography or financial means, should have the chance to access an in-stadia experience of world-class marquee cricket."
"With tickets starting from just INR 100 and LKR1000, we are putting affordability at the centre of our strategy. This is about opening the gates wide and inviting millions to be part of a global celebration of cricket, not as spectators from afar, but as active participants in the energy, emotion and magic that only a stadium can offer."
The dates for the start of ticket sales for Phase 2 will be announced in due course. T20 World Cup 2026 will feature 20 teams across 55 matches that will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The teams are divided into four groups of five teams apiece, with the top-two teams qualifying for the Super Eight stage.
Kolkata and Mumbai are the first and second semi-final respectively. However, if Pakistan qualifies for the semifinal stage, Kolkata will make way for Colombo. The same will hold true for the final that has been allotted to Ahmedabad but could be held in Colombo if Pakistan make it to the summit clash.
