On Monday (December 1), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the list of players who have registered for the IPL 2026 mini-auction, slated to be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16. There were a few notable absentees with Australia's Glenn Maxwell's exit and Andre Russell's league retirement being the surprise developments.
A total of 1355 players have registered for the mini-auctions, of which 1062 are Indian players. Of the domestic players, 928 are uncapped players, showcasing the scarcity of capped talent at the mini-auctions. All franchises have smartly retained their efficient local players to give themselves the best shot of forming a balanced squad. However, it must be noted that this list of registration is not final.

December 3 is the final date for all ten franchises to submit any new names that they want to be added to the auction list. December 5 is the final date for the franchises to inform about any new names that they want to be included into the mini-auction. So, the current auction list is certain to have some changes and if anything, will surely be trimmed before the big event on December 16.
There are 293 overseas players in the auction register and this mini-auction will have a unique rule for the overseas players in terms of the salary cap. Irrespective of the highest bid that they receive, their salary cap will be at Rs 21 crore, which is the highest amount earned by an Indian - Virat Kohli's retention amount for RCB. The highest-earning Indian in the auction is Rishabh Pant at Rs 27 crore.
