South Africa vs Pakistan: This is why Pakistan are wearing a pink jersey for the first time in history

When it comes to Pakistan's jerseys, green is the colour that you usually associate with them. There have been numerous shades of this colour but they have never moved to a completely different colour, even if for a standalone game.

History was created on 28th October 2025 as Pakistan wore a pink jersey in cricket for the first time ever. The reason behind the pink kit is a heart-warming one. Salman Ali Agha's men are in pink to spread the word about breast cancer. We have seen such gestures by cricketing nations before but this is Pakistan's first attempt at social awareness through a jersey change.

Meanwhile, the South African players and two umpires are wearing pink ribbons to show their support towards the cause. On winning the toss, Agha chose to bowl on a typically flat Rawalpindi surface. South Africa got off to one of their best-ever T20I powerplays in Asia with 74 runs in the first six overs.

Tony de Zorzi is making his T20I debut in this game while Babar Azam's comeback in the shortest format is the major talking point of this fixture. The former captain is enduring a wretched run of form across formats and Rawalpindi might just be the perfect ground to get back among the runs.

Babar is set to bat at no.3 after having opened in 87 out of his 121 innings in the shortest format for Pakistan. South Africa are also having a largely new-look side with Donavan Ferreira captaining the team.
