Meanwhile, Oman will be disappointed to have missed out on the QF slot. Malaysia and Hong Kong advanced from Group B after the match between Malaysia and Oman was washed out without a ball being bowled, the ICC said.
Earlier, the Indian women's cricket team reasserted its continental dominance by clinching a second successive gold medal at the Asian Games, thrashing familiar foes Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side's gold was India's first of the ongoing edition.
It was earlier reported that organisers have also faced the challenge of generating interest in sports with a limited following in Japan, such as cricket, in a country where baseball dominates the sporting landscape. At the Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin City, spectators were given free leaflets explaining the basics of cricket.
The semi-finals will both be played on Thursday, October 1, with Semi-Final 1 and Semi-Final 2 scheduled for the same day. The final will be held on Saturday, October 3.
