When India took on Bangladesh during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday, the name of the tournament hosts -- Pakistan-- was omitted from the logo that was displayed by the broadcasters. Although India is playing all its matches in a neutral venue as a part of the "hybrid" model, Pakistan remains the official host and its name is expected to be shown on the screens.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has admitted to a technical error after Pakistan’s name was missing from the event logo during the broadcast of the India vs Bangladesh match in the ICC Champions Trophy.#ICC #Admits #mistake #Missing #Pakistan #logo #INDvsBAN #INDvsPAK pic.twitter.com/8pyejoLPf3

When Pakistan and New Zealand met for the tournament opener, the broadcasters displayed a logo that included Pakistan's name. It was the same for Friday's game between South Africa and Afghanistan -- the third in the tournament. Thus, the omission during an India game created an uproar with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) seeking an explanation from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

During the India-Bangladesh contest, the logo on the top-left corner read "Champions Trophy 2025." For the entirety of the match, Pakistan's name remained unseen. A media report claimed that the PCB has asked the ICC to ensure that this issue will not happen again as the tournament progresses.

According to the ICC, it was a technical glitch that led to the incident, something that is certain not to repeat. The cricket body is said to have informed the same to PCB unofficially, according to ESPN CricInfo. However, PCB is aware that UK-based Sunset & Vine, which was tasked with the graphics for the live telecast, would have provided the logo to the ICC well in advance. There was ample time to review any omissions ahead of the broadcast, making the ICC's explanation unjustified.

ICC reportedly maintains that when Pakistan and India meet at the Dubai International Stadium Sunday for the much-anticipated clash, the logo will most certainly have the host country's name, ESPN CricInfo said.
In the runup to the tournament, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi had categorically denied the tournament becoming a 'Hybrid Model' with India playing all their matches in Dubai. However, PCB finally had to give in to the proposal and will witness the final happening in UAE if India advance. As of now, no compensation will be given to the PCB for accepting the hybrid model. India have not travelled to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. Pakistan, though, travelled to India last year for the ODI World Cup.
