Bangladesh cricket team captain Shakib Al Hasan is now an elected representative of the Parliament, reports said. The world's top-ranked all-rounder, who leads the Tigers across three formats of the game, reportedly managed a landslide victory.

However, Shakib Al Hasan's name is making news for the wrong reason even at the joyous time. Social media is abuzz after he was caught on camera slapping a fan in public. Many netizens have slammed the hot-headed star for his rude behaviour after the video went viral. Here is why many fans are cocking a snook at the cricketer-turned-politician:

What happened: The Bangladesh cricket legend was seen slapping a man who came in contact with him from behind. According to reports, the incident happened when Shakib was at a polling booth to cast his vote. A handful of fans were seen fast approaching him from behind.

There was chaos right behind the walking cricketer as the number of fans increased. This prompted the youth right behind Shakib to come in contact with him. An angry Shakib reacted by slapping the youth on his face -- shocking the crowd which immediately dispersed.

The election: Shakib emerged victorious from the Magura constituency, reports confirmed citing Sunday's counting. The former Kolkata Knight Riders star enjoyed a lead of over 150,000 votes over his nearest rival. He represented the incumbent Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and a boycott by the opposition parties made the job easier for him, media reports said.
