Chennai Super Kings player Deepak Chahar went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Jaya Bharadwaj, after the team's last league stage match of the season.
Despite the defeat, Chahar entered the stands, where Jaya was seated, and surprised her with a wedding ring. Jaya accepted it and the couple hugged as those seated around them cheered and congratulated them.
Chahar himself had shared the video on Instagram later, calling it a "special moment".
The 29-year-old fast bowler from Agra had kept his love life private until then, and there was little available info about Jaya.Â
But after the proposal, Deepak's elder sister, Malti, tweeted that contrary to public speculation, Jaya was not a foreigner but a Delhi girl.
On returning to the team hotel, the couple cut a cake together with the entire team, staff and families around them in the lobby.
As soon as the couple cut the cake, MS Dhoni, Krishnappa Gowtham, Suresh Raina and Robin Uthappa carried Chahar and plastered him with cake.
CSK have entered the playoffs despite losing their last three matches. They currently sit second on the table behind Delhi Capitals.
They were beaten by Punjab Kings on Thursday in a poor performance, and will have to get their act together in the playoffs.
