Punjab Kings’ all-rounder Harpreet Brar was the darling of social media after his performance against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, with fans thronging to congratulate him his three-wicket haul that bagged him the man of the match award.
However, one Instagram user sparked the serious side of Brar after he compared the all-rounder to Akshay Kumar in the 2015 movie “Singh is Bliing”.
The user wrote, “Paaji aap singh is bling ke Akshay Kumar dikhte ho” (Brother, you look like Akshay Kumar in the movie Singh is Bliing).
To which, Brat replied, “Paise k liye Turban nhi pehnte hum #isupportfarmers” (we don’t wear our turbans for money), using the hashtag that supports the farmers in their ongoing protests against three agricultural bills.

The farmers protests had garnered popular support from the Sikh community, who were often vilified by critics of the farmers. Akshay Kumar, who has often supported Narendra Modi and his flagship initiatives, was seen as having supported the bills after he tweeted saying “India against propaganda” following Rihanna’s support for the farmers protests.
