On Thursday, popular journalist and founder of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, claimed that he was assaulted by two Youth Congress workers a few metres away from his home in Mumbai.

He released a video in which he alleged that Congress leaders were behind the attack, and went on to call party president Sonia Gandhi "a coward."

"I want to tell you Sonia Gandhi, you are the biggest coward in the country right now. You have no guts to face me and I will hold you personally responsible. If anything were to happen to me, Sonia Gandhi will be responsible," he said.

Now, coming out in support Goswami, wrestler and BJP politician Babita Phogat, in a tweet, said someone should explain to them that the country has changed. Sticks won't silence the voice of the nation, she added.

The alleged assault was in the wake of Goswami attacking the Congress president over her silence on the incident of Palghar lynching. He claimed that Sonia Gandhi was happy about the incident and added that she would not have been silent had the saints who belong to minority community faced attacks.

Earlier, he had resigned from Editors' Guild of India on live TV, accusing the forum of hypocrisy following the Palghar lynching incident.

Babita Phogat is no stranger to controversies. A few days ago, the wrestler-politician had targeted Tablighi Jamaatis saying coronavirus pandemic was only India’s second concern and added that the Muslim sect was the first problem. After she faced social media backlash for her comments, she retorted saying, “I would like to say that I am no Zaira Wasim. I would not get threatened.... I have always fought for my country. I stand by my tweets.... I wrote nothing wrong.”
