On a day that was constantly disrupted by rains, the South Africa A batsmen failed to put up a solid defence against India A in the first unofficial Test at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

At the close of day three, South Africa were 179/9 at stumps, with a lead of just 40 runs.

Resuming to bat at 125/5, Heinrich Klaasen (48) and Wiaan Mulder (46) raised the hopes of the visitors, but the partnership did not last long. None of the other batsmen prevailed against the Indian attack as Jalaj Saxena claimed two wickets on day three.

Tailenders Ngidi and Sipamla are at the crease.

Earlier, In response to South Africa A's first innings total of 164, India heaped up a total of 303 runs. Captain Shubman Gill missed out on a century by 10 runs while Jalaj Saxena struck 61 not out as India 'A' dominated the proceedings on the second day.
