Virat Kohli has been in tremendous form lately and seems to be on the verge of breaking records that has ever been made. Perhaps not all, but the Indian skipper is close. He has been a run machine even when the team as a unit may not have performed well.

If Kohli adds 81 runs to his ODI tally, he would surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record of being the fastest batsman to achieve 10,000 ODI runs.

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar achieved this feat in 259 innings. Kohli has batted 204 innings so far. The Indian captain will also be the fifth Indian to reach the 10,000 run-mark in ODIs.

Kohli and Rohit Sharma both scored centuries in the opening ODI against West Indies in Guwahati that India won by eight wickets on Sunday. Kohli scored a smooth 140, which included 21 fours and two sixes. The duo have been hailed as the best ODI batting pair in recent times.

Kohli also has the distinction of having scored 889 runs this year in ODIs in just 10 matches at an average of 127 runs. England's Jonny Bairstow has taken more than double the number of matches to top the list with 1,025 runs at an average of 46.59.
