New iPad Pro, MacBook Pro redesign, iPhone 18 and M7 Chip incoming: What reports say
Apple’s 2027 hardware pipeline could include a slew of new gadgets and a special-edition 20th anniversary iPhone; here is what we know so far
Apple is reportedly planning an ambitious hardware refresh cycle for the first half of 2027, featuring new iPad Pro models with upgraded internals and potentially a vapor chamber for enhanced cooling, alongside a redesigned entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro adopting a design similar to larger models and powered by the upcoming M7 chip, which is expected to see a faster-than-usual transition from the M6 and be optimized for AI tasks. These significant product launches, including the entry-level iPhone 18, may face potential delays due to ongoing supply chain constraints, particularly in memory and silicon, which have already contributed to recent price increases across Mac and iPad lines. This concentrated release strategy aims to spread product availability more evenly throughout the year, contrasting with previous reliance on holiday season demand and suggesting 2027 could be Apple's busiest hardware year to date, potentially including special edition iPhones, foldable iPhones, and smart glasses in the latter half of the year.

Apple could be gearing up for one of its most ambitious hardware refresh cycles in recent years. According to a Bloomberg report, the tech giant is testing new iPad Pro models, developing a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro, and accelerating the rollout of its next-generation M7 chip. If the reported timeline holds, these products could arrive in the first half of 2027 alongside the entry-level iPhone 18 and several other devices.
Apple is expected to release four new iPad Pro models in spring 2027. Rather than introducing new display sizes, the company is expected to retain the current 11-inch and 13-inch screens while focusing on upgrading internal components.
Bloomberg notes that Apple is also considering a vapour chamber to cool the iPad Pro, enabling sustained performance while preventing overheating.
New entry-level MacBook Pro expected in 2027
A redesigned entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to arrive in the first half of 2027 under the internal codename "K104." The device is said to adopt a design language similar to the 16-inch and 18-inch laptops with touch displays that Apple is set to release between later this year and early 2027.
A visually identical entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the base M6 chip, internally codenamed "J804," is expected to launch later in 2026, ahead of the M7-based successor. The last major update to the entry-level MacBook Pro came in October 2025. Apple declined to comment on the report.
Apple is also preparing to release its next-generation M7 silicon in the first half of 2027, with the transition from the M6 chip expected to accelerate faster than usual. Apple is also said to be optimising the architecture for more demanding on-device AI tasks.
Tightened supply chain to delay launches?
Not all expected 2027 launches are guaranteed to happen on schedule, as supply chain constraints—particularly in memory and silicon—are reported to be affecting several product timelines.
The tech giant also raised prices across its Mac and iPad ranges in late June, citing sharply higher memory and storage chip costs driven by the AI data-centre boom.
These launches also come as Apple looks to spread its product releases more evenly throughout the year, rather than relying on holiday-season spikes.
Earlier this year, the company launched the iPhone 17e, the MacBook Neo, an updated range of monitors, refreshed MacBook Air and Pro lines, and new Apple silicon chips.
2027 is set to be a major year for Apple hardware, with the first half expected to bring new iPhones, iPads and MacBooks. There are also reports that the second half of the year might see a special-edition iPhone marking the smartphone's 20th anniversary, a second-generation foldable iPhone, Apple's first smart glasses, and new smart-home devices. If realised, 2027 would be one of Apple's busiest years for hardware, spanning smartphones, tablets, laptops, wearables and home devices.
