IIM Udaipur partnered with Bhashini, the National Language Translation Mission, to advance artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for Indian languages.

The overall initiative of the institution is to create regional hubs and improve datasets for under-represented languages, fostering research in speech and language technologies. The goal is to build skills among students and researchers to co-develop innovative language solutions with local communities.

The Indian Institute of Management Udaipur (IIMU), one of India's fastest-growing and globally recognised management schools, on Thursday announced a series of landmark collaborations with leading national institutions.

These partnerships are designed to advance India's capabilities in data analytics, policy monitoring, and artificial intelligence.

Collaboration with the Ministry of Statistics

In its first major agreement, IIM Udaipur has joined forces with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) to serve as a Knowledge Partner for its Data Innovation Lab.

Through this collaboration, students, researchers, and faculty will work on solving real-world statistical challenges. The partnership aims to foster innovation in data analytics through joint research, workshops, and hackathons.

Enhancing policy with NITI Aayog

Furthermore, the institute's Centre for Development Policy and Management (CDPM) has signed an agreement with NITI Aayog's Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office (DMEO).

This partnership focuses on strengthening India's policy monitoring and evaluation framework by adapting global best practices for the Indian context. IIMU will help develop toolkits, create training programmes for policymakers, and provide technical assistance to government ministries.

Professor Ashok Banerjee, the Director of IIM Udaipur, explained that these strategic partnerships align with the institute's vision of creating a meaningful social impact.

He stated that by merging academic excellence with policy requirements and technological innovation, IIM Udaipur aims to fortify India's data and evaluation systems while promoting linguistic diversity through AI-driven solutions.
