A common reason for stress and anxiety among couples trying to have a baby, is the lack of awareness about their fertile days. There are only a few days in every cycle when a woman is fertile and has a high chance of getting pregnant. However, according to reports, every one in two couples identify their fertile days wrong, thereby delaying conception. Also, frequent visits to a pathological lab for follicular ultrasound scans, multiple times every cycle, can at times get difficult and exhausting for the already stressed woman. Added to this is the unreliability of ovulation kits, and conception becomes a daunting task for both the partners involved.
In such a scenario, a fertility monitor 'Inito,' developed by a Bengaluru-based medical diagnostic firm and technology company, raises the chances of getting pregnant higher by almost 89 per cent. Inito is a home-based diagnostic test kit that enables women to track their fertile days at home in an easy and convenient manner by way of the Inito Reader which is a mobile app and the test strips which are dipped in urine and inserted into the device, which in turn is attached to the phone. The Inito App then displays the result (wherein it identifies the level of estrogen and luteinising hormone in urine), identifying upto six fertile days of a woman's cycle. The fertility test is the first test supported by the Inito diagnostic device.
Co-founder Aayush Rai said, "It has been noted that 9 out of 10 ladies face irregular cycles and do not go back to follicular scans after using a fertility monitor." Inito was commercially launched in December 2017 on the premise that cutting edge technology enables smartphones to perform lab-grade medical diagnostic tests at home using a single portable device. "The device has been medically tested and the results were found to be comparable to those acquired with clinic-grade instrumentation which cost 100 times more and are 10 times bigger," says Rai, an alumnus of IIT Roorkee, and an ex-Siemens employee. The company will soon be adding diabetes, thyroid and Vitamin D tests to its device. The device can also work on third party strips after upgradation of the app.
