Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that its Aerospace Force  targeted the US air base from where the attack on Sirik Island originated. This comes as the US attacked a telecommunications tower on Sirik Island in Hormozgan province.

The IRGC Aerospace Force warned that if the aggression is repeated, the response will be completely different, and the responsibility for it lies with the “aggressor and child-killing American regime.”

Not just the US airbase, even Kuwait came under Iranian attack on Monday. The Kuwaiti Army General Staff said the country's air defence systems are countering enemy missile and drone attacks. Though no other details were provided, the Kuwaiti army statement said the possible sounds of explosions were caused by defence systems intercepting the attacker's targets.

Despite reports that the deal between the US and Iran was close to being decided, the US military said it struck Iranian military targets in recent days after its drone was shot in  international waters. The US called the attacks “self-defence strikes” against Iranian military targets, which included “radar and command and control sites for drones in Goruk, Iran and Qeshm Island.”

“The strikes, launched on Saturday and Sunday, were carried out in response to 'aggressive Iranian actions that included the shootdown of a US MQ-1 drone that was operating over international waters.”

“The US fighter aircraft swiftly responded by eliminating Iranian air defences, a ground control station, and two one-way attack drones that posed clear threats to ships transiting regional waters,” CENTCOM said, adding that no US troops were harmed in the incident.

On Sunday, the IRGC had stated that it shot down a US MQ-1 drone after it entered Iranian airspace to conduct hostile operations.  It said air-defence missiles immediately intercepted the aircraft.

The announcement came five days after the Revolutionary Guard accused the US of violating a ceasefire agreement. At the time, it said Iran had a lawful and firm right to respond.
