The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday said it eliminated a commander in Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in a recent Lebanon strike.
The slain IRGC commander was identified as Hisham Abd al-Karim Yassin.
Who was Hisham Abd al-Karim Yassin?
According to the IDF, Hisham Abd al-Karim Yassin was helping Hezbollah rebuild its infrastructure and military capabilities, which were destroyed by Israel more than a year ago.
IDF said Yassin "worked to advance Iranian entrenchment in Lebanon." He was a key commander in Hezbollah's communications wing overseeing "the development, maintenance, and use of communication systems". He was also involved in the Palestinian Corps of the IRGC's Quds Force.
Other IRGC commanders killed by Israel during its ongoing offensive in Lebanon include Abouzar Mohammadi, who was the missile unit commander coordinating with Hezbollah. Five Quds Force commanders Majid Hassini, Ali Reza Bi-Azar, Ahmad Rasouli, Hossein Ahmadlou, and Abu Muhammad Ali were also killed in a Beirut hotel strike.
